Head to Heart

18 inches is the separation between our head and our heart. Every day we experience a fire hydrant of information that rushes into our brain, but do we actually use the info to change life? do we just let it all splash in our face or does any of it actually affect our heart? Is it just mindless gushing to us?

“Head to Heart” exists to prayerfully prompt all of us to recognize the difference between knowing and being. We’re always talking about wanting people to be authentic and real, but authenticity comes from the heart. What’s the reality of YOUR heart?

Stages

by Erin Connolly

Recently, I’ve been focused on the fact that so many of my friends and others surrounding me are in a much different stage of life than I am. Maybe you can relate to this in one way or another. At times I feel as though the different stages they are going through are much more exciting, important, and pertinent to making an impact on the world for Christ’s glory than my stage of life is. God has used this in my life many times to prompt me to seek him in all that I do and in how I am specifically making time to impact the kingdom for HIM.

Through seeking God earnestly in prayer and in his Word, sometimes I have discovered that I do, in fact, need to make a change in my behavior. Unfortunately, at other times, I do not seek God and this feeling overwhelms me that I am not important, that my actions don’t matter anyway, and I begin to fall into the spiral of self-pity and experience Satan's attacks.

It is difficult to climb out of that pit. Mostly because so many times, we try to do it without God. But, God has set us apart (a point I keep coming back to, it seems.) We can affect people no matter what stage of life we are in. Who determines how important these stages are? Certainly not us.

The truth is that you’ve heard this many, many times and will hear it more through the course your lifetime: God placed you here on this earth, at this time, in this city, at that school in that neighborhood, for HIS specific purpose. Let’s seek God daily to have our steps align with his in this race that we are running.

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart. -Jeremiah 1:5
